Mahalakotuva village received its' computer lab at the first half of year 2004 under the Secondary Education Modernization Project.It is consisted with 15 modern computers and the internet facility is also available.Mr Kalana Dampiya who assumed his duty as the Manager of the lab in year 2005 was the pioneer of the great effort of introducing information technology to students,villagers,and the community.It was done by conducting computer classes after school.Mr.Rasika Manoj De Silva the art teacher of school gave his maximum possible contribution to success this task at first and later the school staff  gave their help too.
As a result of this we could complete courses successfully in both year 2005 and 2006 and was able to introduce the  new technology  to the village in a productive manner. About 98% of students have improved their computer knowledge by now . They do their studies at school hours and after school vehemently. The Secondary Education Modernization Project had  selected our school as the first e –village of central province in year 2007  due to being the one and only school which have been conducted such a programme  not only in wilgamuwa zone but also in central province.Under this
We hope to summon information technology  to the village in a broaden manner .

According to our vision, we have been launched the IT developing programme from a  school of a rural village before 2 years. The school computer lab which was built under the observations of SEMP has been influenced in a great deal  to achieve this task.As a result of these achievements, Our small village – Mahalakotuwa was named  as the model e-village of the Central Province in year 2007 by   SEMP The basic Implementations of this project is based on the Horizon Lanka Foundation - Mahavilachchiya , The 1st e-village of Sri Lanka. This is  a totally independent project. The progress of this project is regularly being observed by SEMP.

1. Promote English and computer knowledge inside the village
  This project is mainly implementing based on the school.

2.The programme of supplying computers to talented students

3. Donation of  scholarships to talented students who have economical difficulties
    (This is to their future educational purposes)

4. Introducing novel marketing connections to villagers who are engaging in                           
   Agricultural and animal husbandry.

5. Launching eco-friendly industries.

6.Promote sport attitudes among village children.

7. Introducing Eco-tourism to nature lovers.
