The Presidential Secretariat of Sri Lanka and the Secondary Education Modernization Project (SEMP) collaboratively launched the e-village project in 2007 to enhance the living conditions of rural communities using information and communication technology. Our village, Mahalakotuwa was selected as one of the five pilot projects of the project. Mahalakotuwa eVillage, which is the first and the leading e-village of the Central Province, was able to create our own identity in the ICT field within three years of short time. We got an opportunity to do a presentation at the opening ceremony of the “Mahinda Rajapaksa Information & Communication Technology Library” at Getambe, Peradeniya on March 19, 2010. The Chief Guest was H.E. the President Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa. We did our presentation while connecting live with Mahalakotuwa e-village electronically. H.E. the President communicated live using Skype with our students who were in Mahalakotuwa

 The first Rural Wi-Fi school in Sri Lanka was opened in Mahalakotuwa Maha Vidyalaya.With this implementation Mahalakotuwa M.V. has become a Wi-Fi covered area and the main objective of this programme is to introduce the internet education (online learning) to the class room. They hope to do new experiments on new teaching learning methods through this facility .In order to keep in tough with the global village.
Rohana Bandaranayake a Member of provincial councial, was the resource person of this valuable donation. |

Mahalakotuva village received its' computer lab at the first half of year 2004 under the Secondary Education Modernization Project.It is consisted with 15 modern computers and the internet facility is also available.Mr Kalana Dampiya who assumed his duty as the Manager of the lab in year 2005 was the pioneer of the great effort of introducing information technology to students,villagers,and the community.It was done by conducting computer classes after school.Mr.Rasika Manoj De Silva the art teacher of school gave his maximum possible contribution to success this task at first and later the school staff gave their help too. |
